The Saddle Peak Residence Situated in the Santa Monica Mountains
When I lived in Los Angeles, I always thought that the areas north of the city were so beautiful. I worked in Malibu for a while and the drive up Pacific Coast Highway every morning was so breathtaking I never needed morning coffee.
I came across this home on Design Milk. Saddle Peak Residence is located in the Santa Monica Mountains, sandwiched between Malibu and Calabasas on an acre of land. Designed by AUX Architecture, the project consisted of a major renovation to the original tract home while working with strict building guidelines. New restrictions required the architects to stay within the existing footprint which presented a number of challenges along the way.
The homeowners have owned the property since the 1990s and once their kids moved out they decided to change things up. The homeowners looked for a new house in Malibu, but decided to stay since they loved the privacy aspects of the property. Everything from the original house was discarded.
